Laughing the whole way through this post. That couch and those curtains might be the worst things I have ever seen. How did you even find those?
ReplyDeleteSo true... all of it! Only I disagree about the ugliest sofa in the world. I believe my clients have it. It looks like that one, only has cup holders in between each seat. Sigh.

Couldn't agree more with your rules and you're right...curtains and sofa are terribly hidiously bad. On the positive side of things, that dining room by Fawn Falli is my favourite space in the history of spaces- I ADORE it!!
ReplyDeleteThat heinous, white L-shaped couch looks like it belongs in a conference room on the Starship Enterprise!
ReplyDeleteHaha, those puffy leather recliner-type couches are the worst!

FABULOUS post. The scale tip is so true, yet so easy to forget. I'll have to remind my boyfriend about the matchy matchy furniture, is bedroom is downright disturbing!
ReplyDeleteWhat great nuggets of design wisdom! My hand is still raised (not to easy typing with one hand!) - those are the ugliest curtains ever. And the couch... looks like some Lazy Boys weren't so lazy!
ReplyDeleteI seriously see ads every Sunday for sofas exactly like the "don't". I call them puffy couches, they look like they need to go on a diet and take a couple of spinning classes.
ReplyDeletesuch a fun post! i look forward to the next 5!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I learned some of these too late. I am trying to convince my husband of not picking matchy match anymore and change what we already have.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this post...looking forward to the next five
ReplyDeleteThank you all soooooo much for these great and funny comments. It blows me away when people take the time to write!
ReplyDeletewhat a great list! It really made me laugh, although I know people who fall victim to more than one of those!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, oh my eyes : ( I wonder how people can look at these and think they look wonderful. This post made me laugh, but in the way that almost hurts too much to be funny xD
ReplyDeleteharsh but true ... having just spent hours and hours looking at houses for sale the amount of really ugly curtaining is off the scale ... including the house we have bought - massive pelments in dark rust colourways - ick :) now they will be coming down ... best le
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic topic. The before shots all look so horrible .. and the afters .. well, they are just perfection. Can't wait to see the rest of your list (-:

ReplyDeleteToo funny! I love the fairytale blue you used in your son's room - I'm thinking that would be the perfect color for my own bedroom!
