Chez Moi Room 2 The Dining Room That Turned Into A Den

How funny are the black and white tiles and wooden shutters?
The previous owners used this room as a dining room but I preferred to turn it into a den/ office. The water tower that you see blocks the river but at certain angles you still have the perfect view. The best angle is from the new window seat. I hated that water tower until someone said it's so NewYorky! If you click the pictures you can see more details.

I can't count how many times people have bumped their head on that chandelier and the little door gives you a sneak peak into the kitchen which was a doozy.

The full view: I had a major moment with the Jonathan Adler Chandelier and black patent ottoman and that is where I started the room. The Navy JA couch was supposed to go in this room but it looked to amazing in the living room so I still have my old Crate and Barell Couch from 10 years ago. I want to get rid of it and was thinking this couch but some of you said that it would be nail head overkill. The green rug is Madeline Weinrib as are all of the Greek key pillows big and small. The window seat was made by Custom Resource and we used a white faux leather cracked fabric for the seat cushion. The white bookcase was the same as the one in the living room and lacquered by J & J upholstery. I also fell in love with these white straw boxes in Austin Texas at a store called By George which is also Sandra Bullocks favorite shop there. I bought these cheap white linen curtains from Pottery Barn and Billy from Custom Resource found the thick black linen and made a trim.

Who said that advertising doesn't work? I saw an ad in Lonny Magazine for a company called Chairloom. This White Eames lounge Chair was a hideous brown but it belonged to my dad who left it to me and I had it recovered in a faux white leather that Molly Worth , owner of Chairloom found. It came out so well - better that I expected so thank you so much Molly if you are reading this!!!

I found these wonderful pillows on Etsy sooooo inexpensive (between $35 and $40) and in so many different colors you have to check it out. The owner was a sweetheart and I love them! The company is Elegant Touch. BTW if you go on etsy and type Ikat pillows the variety is AWESOME!

The big MW pillows is the favorite spot of my littlest son. And my JA ottoman is screaming for a tray top be put on top.

Hope you like -would love any and all comments.

  15. Jennifer: Matthew Suddock made them for me but they are just skinny strips of colored paper pasted in a frame - it's a total DIY.
