I am sharing my rental house with all of you for the next few days and would love to hear any suggestions on how to tweak. It came fully furnished so anything I add is strictly cosmetic since we will live here 1 to 2 years. I already put the brown pillows, the navajo runner and foliage above the fireplace into storage so What to add? Here is what I am thinking - Cool green pillows, and I must find cushions for the two chairs since the ones on there are striped - What type of chairs are these - does anyone know? Help
I don't know the name of the chairs, but they are all over Mexico.

OK> the chairs are called Equipales.

My uncle has chairs identical to those that he purchased on a trip to Mexico years ago.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of brown in the room. I love the look of navy blue with brown myself. A great painting over the fireplace would be a great addition. For some reason I'm envisioning a painting of a horse.
There needs to be some contrast STAT! There is so much brown here. definitely pillows and artwork needed, maybe some curtains too, and a new rug might help. You're a saint for putting up with this. I would get all twitchy looking at it!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, contrast needed stat. Some burst of color: blue, green, red? Try some throws on the couches and different colorful lampshades.
ReplyDeletePretty good for a furnished rental - the white couches are awesome! I would switch out the rug for something maybe in a chevron pattern to freshen it up (I think something in a navy/white would look great with all the brown). maybe a display of some white jugs along the mantel and you could always switch out the table lamp for something in a clear glass with a drum shade if you wanted to go as far as that. pretty room! :)
ReplyDeleteit really isn't bad at all. I'd chuck the lamps and get some w/ a pop of color. Large b/w photograph, take one of your old m. weinrib rugs, or one from w. elm. i actually like those cool mexico chairs. actually there are rugs right now on onekingslane (chandra) that have a lot of color and options at great prices. this one may work: http://www.onekingslane.com/Product.aspx?l=00010806059900000000&p=CHN01240
