Painting Ugly Bathroom Tile - It Can Be Done.

I am so excited because I thought that  I had to live with my ugly pink bathroom tile until we were ready to really renovate but I had no idea that you could just paint pink tile white. I have 4 old pink and green tiled bathrooms that I can not wait to recover. Has anyone ever done this? I want to paint the floor as well. Thinking of going black for the floor any suggestions?

  1. I haven't tried this myself but I have 80's white tile in my kitchen and I'm dying to do add some black stripes. Hope there's a tutorial and products list!

  2. Black & white is always chic...or you could do Navy instead. XO

  3. As striking as a black floor can be, it will show every speck of dust.

  5. It is important to choose a fabric that is a good match for the use it will receive. If you have kids in your family it will not be a good idea to buy brocaded fabric. It will very likely to wear faster due to heavy use.furniture stores southaven ms

  6. I whited out my bathrooms to buy time before I renovated years ago. The paint takes to grout differently than to the slick tile. So if you go with white on the floor you have to be meticulous at keeping it clean--going black will solve that. It is a stinky process (paint combined with the bonding agent) so for the first day you will want to stay away. It is a great temporary solution. I still felt the need to renovate though. Kind of like a spray tan--feels a little inauthentic but a good quick fix.

  7. I did it. I had heard about it but was very skeptical until I moved into a home with the most hideous poop brown floor tile - next to equally hideous avocado green tub and toilet. As a designer, I can't live with ugly - but I also can't redo everything all at once. I cleaned the floors and painted them first with Kils then with white gloss latex paint. I'm shocked but it worked just fine, still there 5 years later (one thing at a time, we bought a project). For an everyday bath, I might not do it. For a guest bath - go for it.
